Overview:
The Respite Day Centre offers a supportive environment for autistic adults aged 21 and over who are no longer eligible for school and are unable to take part in vocational training or employment. Running Tuesday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the program provides meaningful daily activities while also giving families and caregivers vital respite.
Benefits:
Participants engage in social, creative, and physical activities that promote independence, belonging, and well-being. The program reduces isolation, encourages friendships, and helps build confidence. Families benefit by knowing their adult child is safe and supported while they attend work, appointments, or take care of personal needs.
Structure:
Activities offered may include, but are not limited to; outdoor recreation, local excursions, community gardening, arts and crafts, dance, yoga, music therapy, zoo therapy, cooking workshops, board games, puzzles, as well as other opportunities for socializing. The flexible program structure allows participants to balance active engagement with periods of rest and relaxation.
Rules/Requirements:
*Registration is required prior to participation.
*Program hours are Tuesday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
